Wythall Dial-a-Ride is a community transport initiative operated by Wythall Together (Charity No 1157087) in association with Wythall Parish Council using accessible minibuses operated by West Midlands Special Needs Transport – the company which runs the well-established Ring and Ride service in the West Midlands.
The Wythall service has been operating since October 2014 and is funded partly by grant aiding from Worcestershire County Council and by local volunteer fund-raising. It is available not just to those living within the parish area with disabilities but anyone who finds walking to a bus stop too much for their physical ability; or simply anyone who lives in a road not served by a bus route or who needs to travel at a time or to a destination where scheduled buses are not available. A basic fare of £2 per journey is reduced to just £1 for holders of concessionary bus passes and the operator recovers the balance via Worcestershire County Council’s community transport funding.
The service currently operates on Tuesdays and Fridays between 10.00am and 2.00pm to destinations within Wythall parish and to Maypole shops and Solihull town centre on certain days. It is hoped that the service can be expanded in response to demand to include a wider catchment area and additional destinations in the future.
